Coalition Updates

  • The Coalition for a Healthy Appling County (CHAC) has made great strides with the Appling County Community Garden. So far, the garden has produced a bounty of squash, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and corn. A special thank you goes to Mr. Theodore Wilkerson for his tilling efforts, Mr. Joe Taylor for providing the plants, and the dedicated volunteers for their invaluable support.

  • The Community Garden project is led by CHAC Coordinator Livvy Davis, with assistance from the Sheriff’s Department and community volunteers. As fall approaches, plans are underway for the next round of seasonal crops.

  • On June 2nd, the Temple of the Higher Calling hosted a successful Open House, featuring worship, food, and family-friendly activities. Additionally, the "Robin Trailblazers" enjoyed a scenic hike through Amicalola Falls from October 11-13.

  • The CHAC 5K was another highlight, successfully promoting fitness while raising essential funds for CHAC programs. A heartfelt thank you to the sponsors, volunteers, and participants who made the event possible.
